2026 opens with a key milestone in Lanzi Trasporti’s growth journey. At the end of February, we will officially launch a dedicated intermodal logistics service directly connecting Northern Italy to Sweden—more precisely, Parma to Örebro.
“This development,” says CEO Leonardo Lanzi, “is something we have worked on for a long time. For us, it is not just a new and strategic service, but a real step up in the quality of our offering. It marks the transition from established conventional intermodality to the full handling of load units via complete, dedicated trains.”
A rail link between Parma and Scandinavia.
Thanks to a strategic partnership with the Finnish company Nurminen, we have activated a weekly door-to-door connection. The train will depart from our Parma terminal and reach Swedish handling hubs, ensuring a steady and reliable flow for both exports and imports.
Until now, our container management took place on mixed trains; the introduction of a full train now allows us to offer greater loading capacity and improved punctuality, providing companies in Northern Italy with a “fast track” to Scandinavian markets.
State-of-the-art infrastructure and value-driven logistics.
This service is built on concrete investments made over the past two years. The tracks built in the area we acquired in 2023 are finally operational, expanding our maneuvering capacity. In addition, this new area will be the hub for container storage and management (both full and empty). We will operate with our latest-generation reach stackers, including the impressive blue unit equipped with a piggyback system for handling semi-trailers. More on this very soon.
Beyond transport: tailored services for the supply chain.
The real challenge is the “last mile,” as those in the logistics and transport sector know well. Many Italian companies do not have loading bays for direct container unloading; for this reason, we go beyond rail transport, taking care of every aspect of the supply chain and aiming for high performance at every stage.
Our added value lies in our complementary services:
- Unloading and storage: we receive the container, unload it at our warehouses, and manage the goods in storage.
- Extensive distribution: we carry out final delivery using traditional curtain-sided trucks, making intermodal logistics accessible even to companies without dedicated infrastructure.
Looking to the future: from containers to semi-trailers.
This new link to Sweden is only the first step. Our vision for 2026 already includes extending the service to semi-trailers, allowing entire road units to travel by rail, further reducing environmental impact and operating costs for our partners.
This connection is not only a new achievement for Lanzi Trasporti, but also a real opportunity for many companies in Northern Italy. We encourage them to get in touch with us to explore the advantages of this rail bridge bringing Italy closer to Northern Europe.
Container transport between Italy and Sweden has not gone unnoticed in the transport and logistics sector, so much so that the online magazine Ship2Shore announced it as follows:
